RAIDERS DRUMLINE
What is Drumline? The drumline is the percussive unit of the band. The drumline is made up of two parts; the battery, the marching members in both the summer and the fall, and the frontline (pit), the non marching members in the fall. We perform on streets for parades during the summer and on football fields for field shows in the fall.
Attendance: Attendance is crucial to this program. If one person is gone, it affects the entire drumline in trying to fill that hole. It is of the utmost importance to be on time to every rehearsal. Rehearsal dates are set weeks in advance. Please try to arrange work and other activities around this schedule. Work and school work DOES NOT count as an excused absence. If an emergency arises, please don't hesitate to talk to staff and we can work it out. Each member is responsible for learning the missed material BEFORE the next rehearsal. Please wear comfortable, clothing and tennis shoes to each rehearsal. Please see the separate Attendance Policy for attendance guidelines.
Expectations: Expectations for the drumline are higher than for the band proper. This is because of the precision required to play and march our music together with the rest of the drumline. It also takes us longer to learn our music. The staff expects the members of the drumline to make a commitment to themselves and each other in order to have their music and drill learned in a timely fashion. This includes practice outside of rehearsal and coming to rehearsal prepared.
Equipment: Equipment for the drumline is provided through the school. We are able to purchase updated equipment to fit each year's show through the Marching Band Member Fee. Each drumline member is allowed to check out equipment to take home and is responsible for that equipment throughout the year. There will be a small equipment fee for each member of the drumline. This fee will primarily cover wear and tear to the equipment as well as purchasing new sticks and mallets. Equipment is expected to be cared for throughout the season as if it were the members own.
Please plan for time before
and after rehearsal to get set up and to put everything away.
The stated rehearsal times do not include set up and clean
up time.
You will receive a separate full season rehearsal and performance schedule along with the entire band.
Please clear your schedule and plan on meeting at 9 am on performance days.
Instructor contact information can be found in the Information section.
Please Note: There is not a separate fall schedule at this time

RAIDERS DRUMLINE ATTENDANCE POLICY
In order for an absence or tardy to be excused, it must be submitted in writing to a staff member prior to rehearsal/performance. This needs to be done as soon as possible once the conflict is known. If this is not done, the absence or tardy will not be excused unless an emergency situation arises. Attendance will always be taken at the beginning of all rehearsals/performances. If a member is tardy for any unexcused reason, that counts the same as an unexcused absence.
Everyone will be given one unexcused absence for free.
The second unexcused absence may result in a call to a parent/guardian.
The third unexcused absence may result in a parent meeting and is grounds for corrective action, which may include termination of membership.
Being on time for rehearsal means one must be ready to begin rehearsal with instrument out and set up in place at the scheduled beginning of rehearsal, not just in the room. Please plan on arriving early to ensure being ready on time. Same thing applies at the end of rehearsal. The staff will do our best to end rehearsal on time, but this does not include time to put things away and clean up the rehearsal space. Plan a few minutes after rehearsal to get everything put away.
You will be required to sign a printed copy of this policy. The drumline staff will provide you with this, or you can get it here.
