Directors
Michael Buck
     Michael Buck has been a music educator for seventeen years. Currently, Mr. Buck serves as a band director at Hastings High School in Hastings, Minnesota. Recently, he worked as an adjunct music education professor at Loyola University New Orleans. Previously, he taught at the elementary, middle school and high school levels in Minnesota and at the (American) International School of Islamabad, Pakistan. He holds a B.M. Ed. from St. Olaf College, a M.M. Ed. from VanderCook College and is a candidate for the degree of Ph.D. in music education with a minor in wind band conducting from the University of Southern Mississippi.
     Mr. Buck has conducted vocal and instrumental musical ensembles in the United States, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Italy, Nepal, Pakistan and India. In addition to numerous public concerts and performances, his groups have performed in Pakistan for diplomats and dignitaries at the British High Commission, United Arab Emirates Embassy, the Norwegian Embassy and the American Embassy. In Minneapolis, Buck served as conductor and artistic director of the St. John's Lutheran Church choir and oratorio chorus. Projects for this accomplished adult choir and professional instrumentalists included annual holiday performances of Handel's Messiah.
     Mr. Buck actively studies advancements in music technology and researches music education topics. In 2001, he presented a music technology workshop at the NESA (Near East South Asia Council of Overseas Schools) conference in Istanbul, Turkey. He has served as a free-lance music technology consultant, presenting workshops to several Minneapolis area schools. His master's degree comprehensive project explored pedagogy and practice related to teaching musicianship through band warm-up routines. His dissertation topic focuses on the efficacy of the Smart Music (from Make Music Technologies) assessment module as a teaching and learning tool.
     Mr. Buck is married and has two children. His wife is an occupational therapist and professional singer.

Duane Oldham
    Duane Oldham received a Bachelor of Music degree from Winona State University and a Master of Music Education degree from the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire. Mr. Oldham currently serves as a band director in the Hastings Public School District. At the high school, Mr. Oldham conducts the concert band and teaches wind ensemble lessons. He directs the sixth grade band and teaches brass lessons at Hastings Middle School. Prior to teaching in Hastings, Mr. Oldham was a band director at New Ulm High School.

Kathy Warren
     Kathy Warren has lived and taught in Hastings for the past 22 years. She began her teaching career in Hildreth, NE where she taught band, choir and general music for grades K-12. She next taught K-5 music in Altoona, WI along with 5th grade band and choir. Her present job is directing the 7th and 8th grade bands, jazz bands and teaching lessons for all woodwind and percussion students at Hastings Middle School.
     Kathy graduated from Hastings College in Hastings, NE with a Bachelor or Music degree and from the University of St. Thomas with a Master of Music Education degree.
     She is married to Lin Warren and has two sons, Lukas and Matthew and a wonderful dog names Zoe.

Emily Chandler
     Emily Chandler received her B.S. in K-12 Instrumental Music Education from Winona State University, and a Masters degree in Education from Saint Mary's University in Winona, MN. Mrs. Chandler has been the Hastings High School Marching Band Director since 2001. She teaches 1-5 Vocal Music and 5-8 Instrumental Music at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School in Hastings, MN. Mrs. Chandler was also the director of the South Washington Community Band from 2000-2003, and has performed in various musical orchestras throughout the Twin Cities Metro.
     Mrs. Chandler enjoys coaching 8th grade Softball and 8th grade Volleyball at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School. In her free time, she enjoys traveling with her husband Jerry, and spending time with her two daughters.
