The Purpose of Band Boosters
  • To promote the Hastings School Band programs
  • To cooperate with the band directors and administrators at Hastings Schools
  • To assure the success and growth of all band programs
  • To encourage and make possible educational trips, exchange programs and concerts that are sanctioned and approved by the school
  • To actively support all phases of fundraising
Membership of Band Boosters
  • All parents of band students and any persons interested in the progress and development of the band programs at Hastings Schools
Band Boosters Has...
  • Sponsored annual Rivertown Revelry Field Show Competition
  • Co-sponsored local performances with Minnesota Brass, Inc. and Minnesota Drumline Association
  • Aided HMS and HHS with Jazz Nights
  • Assisted with Solo/Ensemble contest at HHS
  • Provided partial student scholarships for marching band, All-State Band and Middle School Honors Band
  • Established/filled the trophy case at HHS
  • Outfitted band trailer
  • Subsidized drill writing for marching band fall field show
  • Subsidized instruments purchased for school band and marching band
  • Provided food for band students during or after rehearsals
  • Subsidized busing costs for special high school and middle school music events/fields trips
  • Setup and maintained Hastings School Bands website

HASTINGS BAND BOOSTER ASSOCATION BY-LAWS
ARTICLE I -Name:
The name of this organization shall be the Hastings Band Booster Association, hereafter referred to as the Band Boosters or Organization.
ARTICLE II -Objectives
  • To promote the Hastings School Band Programs.
  • To cooperate with the band directors and administrators at Hastings Schools to assure the success and growth of all band programs.
  • To encourage and make possible educational trips, exchange programs and concerts that are sanctioned and approved by the school.
  • To actively support all phases of fundraising.
ARTICLE III -Membership:
The membership of the Band Boosters shall include all parents of band students and any persons interested in the progress and development of the Band Programs at Hastings Schools.
ARTICLE IV -Officers
Section 1 -The Co-Presidents (2) shall preside at all meetings and act as Chairperson of the Executive Board and shall be an ex-officio member on all committees. The Co-Presidents will have 2 year staggered terms.
Section 2 -The Secretary shall record and publish the minutes of all meetings of the Band Boosters and the advisory council. The Secretary shall submit meeting times to the webmaster.
Section 3 -The Co-Treasurers (2) will keep an accurate record of fundraising income and expenditures, showing each activity separately; and payout funds as authorized by the advisory council or general membership. The Treasurer shall present a monthly and yearly financial statement. The Co-Treasurers will have 2 year staggered terms..
ARTICLE V -Advisory Council
Section 1 -The Advisory Council shall be composed of the Band Boosters' officers and the high school band directors.
Section 2 -The Advisory Council shall meet as deemed necessary to insure the timely handling of the Organization's business.
Section 3 -A quorum of the Advisory Council shall consist of five members.
Section 4 -The financial prerogative of the Advisory Council shall not exceed $100.00 without a majority vote of the Band Boosters at a general meeting.
ARTICLE VI -Meetings
Section 1 -The general meetings of the Band Boosters shall be held as determined by the Advisory Council.
Section 2 -Special meetings may be called by the Band Boosters' Presidents.
ARTICLE VII -Standing Teams
Section 1 -There shall be the following standing Team Leaders: Public Relations Leader, Volunteer Leader, Fundraising Team Leader and other Team Leaders the Advisory Council determines necessary.
Section 2 -Teams shall be formed by volunteers and appointments.
ARTICLE VIII -Finances
Section 1 -Financial inspections: the accounts shall be inspected annually by the Treasurers and two members of the Advisory Council, with the inspection taking place prior to the approval of the next year’s budget.
Section 2 -Fiscal Year: The fiscal year runs from June 1 to May 31. The budget will be prepared by the Advisory Council for presentation at a meeting and must be approved during the first quarter of the calendar year.
ARTICLE IX -Parliamentary Authority
Section 1 -The Team Leads shall function as the Nominating Team. Nominations and recommendations will be made by the team to the Advisory Council.
Section 2 -The officers shall be elected by members at the final meeting of the second quarter of the calendar year. The term of office is one year and is effective at the following meeting, unless specified by position.
Section 3 -Vacancies arising during the year may be filled by appointment of the Advisory Council.
ARTICLE X -Name:
Robert's Rules of Order, Revised, shall govern this organization in all cases in which they are applicable.
ARTICLE XI -Amendments:
The By-laws will be reviewed by the Advisory Council in January of each year. Additionally, the By- Laws may be amended at any general meeting by a majority voice vote. Updated copies will be posted on the website.
