BAND BOOSTER ASSOCATION BY-LAWS |
ARTICLE I -Name:
The name of this organization shall be the Hastings Band Booster Association, hereafter referred to as the Band Boosters or Organization.

ARTICLE II -Objectives
- To promote the Hastings School Band Programs.
- To cooperate with the band directors and administrators at Hastings Schools to assure the success and growth of all band programs.
- To encourage and make possible educational trips, exchange programs and concerts that are sanctioned and approved by the school.
- To actively support all phases of fundraising.

ARTICLE III -Membership:
The membership of the Band Boosters shall include all parents of band students and any persons interested in the progress and development of the Band Programs at Hastings Schools.

ARTICLE IV -Officers
Section 1 -The President shall preside at all meetings and act as Chairperson of the Executive Board and shall be an ex-officio member on all committees.
Section 2 -The President-Elect will assume the duties of the President in his/her absence and becomes President at the end of the President's term.
Section 3 -The Secretary shall record and publish the minutes of all meetings of the Band Boosters and the Executive Board. The Secretary shall submit meeting times to the local newspaper.
Section 4 -The Treasurer shall receive all student and Band Boosters' moneys; keep an accurate record of receipts and expenditures, showing each activity separately; and payout funds as authorized by the Executive Board or general membership. The Treasurer shall present a monthly and yearly financial statement. |
ARTICLE VI -Executive Board
Section 1 -The Executive Board shall be composed of the Band Boosters' officers and the high school band directors.
Section 2 -The Executive Board shall meet as deemed necessary to insure the timely handling of the Organization's business.
Section 3 -A quorum of the Executive Board shall consist of four members.
Section 4 -The financial prerogative of the Executive Board shall not exceed $100.00 without a majority vote of the Band Boosters at a general meeting. |
ARTICLE VII -Meetings
Section 1 -The general meetings of the Band Boosters shall be held at 7:00 p.m., on the second Thursday, September through May. Meetings may be adjusted as needed in conjunction with the school calendar. Meeting announcements will be published in the local paper.
Section 2 -Special meetings may be called by the Band Boosters' President. |
ARTICLE VIII -Standing Committees
Section 1 -There shall be the following standing committees: Membership and Volunteer Service, Field Show, and other committees the Executive Board determines necessary.
Section 2 -The Membership and Volunteer Service Committee shall include a chair, a phone-tree team leader, and others the chair deems necessary. Duties shall include publishing a phone tree and coordinating requests for volunteer services.
Section 3 -Committees shall be formed by volunteers and appointments. |
ARTICLE IX -Finances
Section 1 -Financial audits: the accounts shall be audited annually by the Treasurer and two others, with the audit taking place prior to the April meeting at which the results will be presented.
Section 2 -Fiscal Year: The fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30. The budget will be prepared by the Executive Board for presentation at the April meeting and must be approved by the start of the fiscal year. |
ARTICLE XI -Parliamentary Authority
Section 1 -The Membership/Volunteer Service Committee shall function as the Nominating Committee. Nominations may be made from the floor.
Section 2 -The officers shall be elected by members at the general meeting in May. The term of office is one year and is effective at the September meeting.
Section 3 -Vacancies arising during the year may be filled by appointment of the Executive Board. |
ARTICLE I -Name:
Robert's Rules of Order, Revised, shall govern this organization in all cases in which they are applicable.

ARTICLE XII -Amendments:
The By-laws will be reviewed by the Executive Board in January of each year. Additionally, the By- Laws may be amended at any general meeting by a majority voice vote one month after presentation of proposed changes. Updated copies will be distributed at the following meeting.
